How to register for the TOEFL

Demand for the TOEFL, especially the internet-based test, is very high. International students should register several months in advance to make sure they get the test date they want. Registration can be completed in one of the following ways.

Register Online

Visit the main TOEFL registration site, select the country where you will take the test, and follow the online instructions to complete registration.

Registration ends 7 days before the test date. Late registration costs for the TOEFL an additional $25 and ends 3 days before the test date. You will need a credit card to pay the registration fee.

Step-by-step instructions for registering online can be found here.

Register by Mail

To register by mail, download the TOEFL registration form and use the Code Lists to complete it.

Registration forms must be received at the appropriate Regional Registration Center at least 4 weeks before the test date.

Students should receive confirmation of their TOEFL registration. If no confirmation is received, students should contact the Regional Registration Center at least 3 days before the test date to ensure participation in the test.
